The program on down-stream processes (MFS - membrane filtration systems) was started with the establishment of VWS MEMSEP, and has long been engaged in close cooperation with one of the first pioneers in developing membranes for micro-filtration, ultra-filtration, reverse osmosis, and nano-filtration, as well as technological systems for their industrial use - the Danish firm DDS Nakskov. After a change of ownership in 2002, this company is now a part of ALFA-LAVAL.
In the scope of this cooperation, business activities are performed involving uses for membrane separation procedures, especially for the pharmaceutical industry, specialty chemicals, the food and beverage industry, and biotechnology.
VWS MEMSEP has at its disposal a set of laboratory and pilot-plant systems which are used to supply customers with laboratory and pilot-plant tests, the results of which are used to design technical processes for separating or isolating various products, and for working up concrete systems proposals.
